Wilson, Osborne, and Fost Claim All-UAA Honors on Final Day of UAA Indoor Championships

The Emory University men's track and field teams concluded the second day of the University Athletic Association Indoor Championships at The Armory in New York, NY, where three Eagles turned in All-UAA efforts.

Junior Liam Fost, freshman Patrick Osborne, and freshman Wheeler Wilson all produced marks that merited them All-UAA accolades. Liam Fost concluded his 400m Dash in a time of 49.17, which was good enough for third-place and gave his team six points. Senior Alex Rand also raced in the event, doing it in 50.97 seconds to take sixth-place (3 pts.). In their first years of action, Wheeler Wilson and Patrick Osborne captured All-UAA kudos in the Shot Put and Pole Vault, respectively. Wilson, the current Emory Shot Put record holder, was the event runner-up with a result of 15.01m (8 pts.). It is the second time that he has breached the 15m mark in his short career. Sophomore Patrick Crockett also picked up a pair of points for the Eagles in the Shot Put (13.18m, 7th-place).

Freshman Patrick Osborne also was the winner of the silver in his event. Osborne cleared the bar when it was set at 4.43m, but Breylen Ammen of Brandeis was able to do it one attempt earlier, which gave him the top-spot. Osborne's effort was the fourth-best mark in Emory history. The last event in the field in which Emory pocketed points was the Triple Jump. Freshman Ryan Ryu, jumped 13.05m for eighth-place (1 pt.).

On the track, Tommy Davis, another freshman, scored in two events as a sprinter. Participating in both the 60m Dash and the 200m Dash, Davis crossed in fifth-place in the shorter 60m event (7.13m, 4 pts.) and took seventh-place in the 200m (22.93, 2 pts). Junior Jacob Hedgepeth, sophomore Jon Marcus, and sophomore Spencer Moore all scored in the distance events for their team. Moore raced his 3000m Run in a time of 8:38.03, which was enough to land him in fifth-place (4 pts.). Marcus paced the Eagles in the 800m Run. The New Jersey native broke through the line after 1:58.42 for seventh-place (2 pts), and Hedgepeth crossed a short time later for eighth-place (2:06.35, 1 pt.).

Washington University and Chicago placed first and second in the team competition. WashU earned 201 points and UChiacgo laid claim to 115 points. The Emory men's squad took seventh-place with 51 points.

The Emory men's track and field team now turns its attention to the Tufts Final Qualifer, which serves as the last opportunity for the Eagles to post marks that would qualify them for the NCAA Indoor Championships. The squad will compete at Tufts on Friday, Mar. 7th in Boston, MA.
