A total of nine USTFCCCA All-Region selections and three All-UAA performances headlined the 2020 indoor season for the Emory University men's track and field team.
Nine Eagles combined for 10 South/Southeast All-Region certificates as chosen by the USTFCCCA. Sophomore Spencer Moore led all Eagles with two certificates in the mile and distance medley relay. Adding All-Region acclaim were juniors John Cox and Matthew Dillon in the 5000m Run, junior Liam Fost in the 400m Dash, freshman Patrick Osborne in the pole vault, freshman Wheeler Wilson in the shot put and sophomores Jon Marcus, William McGuire and Lucas Werner in the DMR.
At the University Athletic Association Championships held in New York in late February, the Eagles saw three team members come home with conference medals as the team finished seventh with 51 team points.
The freshman duo of Osborne and Wilson collected runner-up performances in their respective field events with Osborne taking silver in the pole vault and Wilson in the shot put. Fost joined them on the podium as the third-year sprinter finished third in the 400m Dash.
The combination of the All-UAA effort and USTFCCCA All-Region award as well as his past performances helped Fost garner national recognition as he highlighted all track & field team members with a spot on the Academic All-District Team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Fost added academic accolades as he was one of 26 student-athletes from men's track and field tabbed to the UAA All-Academic Team. The 26 selections paced all Emory athletic teams for the winter season.
Wilson rounded out the list of season highlights as he claimed the team's lone UAA weekly award. He collected the weekly honor after breaking the Emory record in the shot put with his heave of 15.04m at his first collegiate meet, the BSC Panther Indoor Icebreaker on December 6th.
