Two Meet Records Fall as Men's Track & Field Wins Hilltop Classic

The Emory University men's track & field team secured sux event wins and set a pair of meet records Friday afternoon, lifting the team to a first-place team finish at the Hilltop Classic at Birmingham-Southern College. The Eagles paced 12 scoring schools at the meet, finishing with 155 team points.

Spencer Moore and Brett Henshey highlighted the team at meet as the duo broke meet records in their respective events. In the 3000m Steeplechase, Moore posted a first-place effort with his time of 9:28.02, the only sub 10-minute time in the field. Over in the high jump, Henshey shined with his height of 2.00m as he won the event, besting the previous meet record of 1.95m.

Additional event winners for the Eagles on the afternoon were Jack Whetstone in the 1500m Run (3:57.92), Egan Kattenberg in the 5000m Run (15:29.67), Michael Tiffin in the hammer throw (47.44m) and the 4x400m Relay team of Spencer Watry, Scott Masterson, Jacob Hedgepeth and Thomas Perretta (3:21.59).

Other top finishers for Emory at the meet included Patrick Osborne in the pole vault (2nd, 4.25m), Holden Ringer in the 3000m Steeplechase (3rd, 10:28.82), Watry in the 400m Dash (3rd, 50.42), Thomas Davis in the 200m Dash (3rd, 22.15), Joe Chamoun in the 5000m Run (3rd, 15:43.33), Hedgepeth in the 800m Run (4th, 1:54.93), Graham Scott in both the 110m Hurdles (5th, 17.21) and 400m Hurdles (3rd, 59.96), JonCarlo Migaly in both the 100m Dash (4th, 11.05) and long jump (7th, 6.46m), Kenya Sei in the hammer throw (4th, 44.84m), Chris Jernigan in the javelin (5th, 49.00m) and Logan Chen in the triple jump (9th, 11.97m).

Next up for the Eagles is the UAB Spring Invitational on Friday, April 2nd and Saturday, April 3rd.
