Annika Urban & Spencer Moore Advance to Finals on Day One of NCAA Championships

The Emory University outdoor track & field teams had athletes competing in preliminaries in four different events on the first day of action at the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships in Geneva, OH with two Eagles advancing to Saturday's finals in their respective events.

Following a tremendous final push that saw her overtake several runners, junior Annika Urban crossed the finish line in 4:33.06 in the 1,500m run to finish second in her heat and with the eighth fastest time overall. Urban's time is a new personal record, beating the mark she set merely a week ago, and now sits as the sixth fastest time in program history. Urban is one of 12 runners who qualified for the 1,500m run finals which are set to take place on Saturday at 12:25 PM. It will be the first of two events for Urban on Saturday as she is also set to compete in the 5,000m run finals at 3:00 PM.

Senior Spencer Moore qualified for the finals of the 3,000m steeplechase after registering a time of 9:08.47 to finish fifth in his heat and with the 11th fastest time overall. Moore's time is the second fastest mark this season for him as he hopes to surpass that mark during the finals that are set to take place at 11:45 AM Saturday morning.

The men's 4x100 relay team of freshman Sam Ryba, senior Thomas Davis, graduate student Liam Fost and freshman Jackson Price finished in 13th place overall in the preliminaries with a time of 41.32 seconds while the men's 4x400 relay team of sophomore Dawit Dean, Davis, Fost and Price turned in a 10th place overall finish with a time of 3:16.19 in their final meet of the season.

The Eagles have no athletes competing on Friday and will return to action on Saturday of the championships for the final day of competition.
