Outdoor NCAA Selections Announced for Track & Field

The Emory University track & field program saw 11 student-athletes selected to compete at the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Championships May 25-27 at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York.

Six athletes were chosen on the women's side highlighted by senior Annika Urban being chosen to compete in two individual events. For the men, five Eagles were selected to compete including three individuals.

Urban will be featured in both the 1500m and 5000m after posting top seed times throughout the season. She'll enter with the fastest time in the 1500 following her appearance at the Lee Last Chance meet where she posted the seventh fastest mark in Division III history at 4:19.43 and is the only seeded runner to go under 4:25 this season. In the 5000m, Urban will be seeded third with her mark of 16:06.95 – the fifth fastest time in DIII – and will be matched up against Loras' Kassie Parker and Saint Benedict's Fiona Smith who own the first and fourth fastest times in DIII history, respectively.

Sophomore Dashiel Tao Harris made the cut in the 400m Dash as she'll be seeded 21st at 56.63 while junior Libby Ranocha earned a spot in the 800m, entering the field 16th at 2:11.81. Both runners will be paired with Urban and sophomore Audrey Johnson as the 4x400m relay earned a bid with their season-best time of 3:50.72 while Harris will join Johnson, Clementine Bodus and Kaya Binetti in the 4x100m relay which earned a spot with their 46.77 that was ran this past Wednesday at the Emory Final Qualifier – the third fastest time in program history.

On the men's side, freshman phenom Henry Brandstadter makes the lone event qualification in the field events, earning the eighth-best seed with his school record mark of 7.44m in the long jump. Brandstadter will also be featured on the track as a member of the 4x100m relay along with Sam Ryba, Thomas Davis and Jackson Price. The group established a school record time of 40.91 at the Life Last Chance meet earlier this month.

Also earning spots for the men was Price in the 200m Dash as he'll be seeded 10th at 21.15, the second fastest time in team history, and junior Dawit Dean in the 800m who secured his spot after setting the program record of 1:50.32 at Life University two weeks ago.

The NCAA Championships are set to get underway on Thursday with the prelims and finals of the long jump starting at 1:15pm, prelims of the 4x100m relay at 5:00pm (M) and 5:15pm (W), prelims of the women's 1500m at 5:45pm, prelims of the men's 200m at 7:05pm and prelims of the women's 4x400m relay at 8:50pm. Friday will feature prelims of the women's 400m (5:45pm) and men's 800m (6:30pm). The finals, should the Eagles advance, will take place during the afternoon on Saturday.
