Jessica Fritsche joined the Emory University track and field program as assistant coach in September of 2019. Her primary responsibilities will focus on the jumps.

Fritsche came to Emory after spending the 2018-19 season as a graduate assistant at Stevenson University (MD).  She made a significant impact during her one year, mentoring two athletes to their first indoor national appearances in the long jump and heptathlon.  In addition, she coached the school’s first female All-American in school history in the long jump during the outdoor season.  Fristche coached 13 Mustangs to all-conference acclaim and helped the men’s team to its second straight Middle Atlantic Conference title.

“Jessica is a very bright and accomplished young coach and I’m very excited to add her to the Emory staff,” Linh said.  “She has proven the ability to recruit and coach student-athletes at a high level and I think she will bring a lot to our jumps group. It is going to be a boon for the program to add another coach in the speed and power events and I look forward to working with her and seeing what she can do to elevate our jumps group.”

Prior to her stop at Stevenson, Fritsche served a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Eastern University.  Joining the Eagles for their inaugural season in 2015-16, Fritsche served as the program's primary jumps coach. While at Eastern, Fritsche coached 26 All-Conference jumpers, seven All-Region jumpers, six record holders and two USTFCCA All-Academic jumpers. She also coached two national qualifiers in the men's and women's triple jump.

Fritsche has her USTFCCCA Level 1 Coaching certification and is currently working on becoming a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

A four year member of the Millersville University track and field team, Fritsche competed as both a jumper and a sprinter. As team captain, she led the Marauders to a top-three finish in the PSAC for the first time in school history. She was named all-conference in both her junior and senior years after coming back from a sophomore-year injury. She was also named a PSAC Scholar-Athlete all four years and was part of the All-Academic team.

Fritsche is a 2015 graduate of Millersville University, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Community Leadership and Education at Stevenson.
