Emory Men's Cross Country Places Four On UAA 30th Anniversary Team

The Emory University men's cross country program has placed four former runners on the University Athletic Association's 30th Anniversary Team.

David Laub (1984-87), Jeff Calabrese (1996-99), Adam Carlson (1997-2000) and Phil Hagedorn (2000-03) are the Emory representatives among the 46 awardees.

The 30th Anniversary Team consists of each student-athlete who earned Individual Champion honors or accumulated five or more points in his career, with two points awarded for All-Association first team recognition and one point for second-team honors.

Laub holds the distinction of winning the first-ever UAA Championship back in 1987. An All-America performer as a junior and senior, he captured All-South Region honors all four years.

After garnering second-team recognition as a freshman, Calabrese raced to the first of his two first-team spots on the All-UAA Team as a sophomore in 1997 when he ranked seventh in the field. He went back-to-back the following season when he crossed the finish line in the No. 5 position.

Carlson was a four-time recipient of All-UAA acclaim, earning first-team kudos in 1999 after placing second at the league championships, and in 2000 when as a senior he raced to first-place honors. His initial two years as a collegian saw him bring home second-team recognition.

As a sophomore and junior, Hagedorn claimed first-team honors after posting sixth- and third-place performances at the UAA Championships. During his freshman and senior seasons, he landed positions on the second team.  His final Emory cross country race saw him earn All-America status after finishing 13th at the NCAA D-III Championships.
