Annika Urban & Spencer Moore Sweep JSU Foothills Invitational

The Emory University cross country teams went back-to-back with an Eagle athlete winning both the men's and women's race at the JSU Foothills Invitational in Jacksonville, AL.

The men's team placed first scoring 34 points beating out Auburn by just a single point. The Eagles finished with four runners in the top ten and four others finishing within the top 20 in the 5k race.

Senior Spencer Moore finished in first place with a time of 15:32.32 marking his first ever collegiate meet win. Moore is the first Eagle to win a meet since Jack Whetstone won the Southeast Regional meet in November of 2019. Newcomer Ethan Thompson, a graduate transfer from UW-La Crosse, placed second for the Eagles and fifth place overall after crossing the finish line in a time of 15:41.54. Sophomore David Evans and senior Justin Pecore finished back-to-back in eighth and ninth place, respectively and were separated by under a second in the standings. Rounding out scoring for the Eagles was fifth year senior Brett Lucas who finished in 11th overall after posting a time of 15:47.91.

The women's team registered a second place finish overall scoring 63 points with all five scoring runners finishing in the top 25. Auburn finished the meet atop the podium scoring 27 points while Samford was the other medalist with 91 points in the 4k race.

Senior Annika Urban picked up where she left off last season, registering a first place finish after posting a time of 13:50.43, the only runner to break the 14 minute mark. This marks Urban's third ever meet win and her first since the 2021 Southeast Regional meet. Freshman Karsten Bobb registered an eighth place finish in her first ever collegiate meet after crossing the finish line in 14:42.49. Junior Lily Taylor posted a 15:06.32 4k time which saw her finish just outside the top ten in eleventh place. Graduate transfer Claire Hu came in fourth for the Eagles and 18th overall with a time of 15:21.04. Rounding out scoring for Emory was sophomore Natalie Sandlow who posted a time of 15:31.89 to come in 25th place.
