Sophomore Melody Carter helped the No. 12-ranked Emory
softball team to four season-opening victories.
Carter hit a blazing .600, collecting six hits in 10 trips to the
plate, and scored a team-high tying seven runs as the Eagles earned
two wins over Averett University and Maryville College. Three of
Carter's six safeties were extra-base hits including the team's
first home run of the year, a three-run blast in the bottom of the
sixth inning that closed out a 13-4 triumph over Averett. In the
final game of the weekend, a 10-3 decision over Maryville, she hit
safely twice and socked a run-producing triple.
