Senior left fielder Ally Kersthold hit a team-high .667
and topped the squad in RBIs and on-base percentage in helping the
No. 12-ranked Eagles to four wins at the 3N2 Elite Event.
Kersthold collected six hits in nine plate appearances and scored
a team-high tying six runs while pacing the club with eight RBIs.
Kersthold drew a team-high five walks and finished the weekend with
a team-high .786 on-base percentage. On the first day of action,
she went a combined 5-for-5 at the plate with seven RBIs. She
led off the Greensboro contest with a triple and scored the team's
first run, and later in the same inning knocked in a pair of
runs with a single. She followed that effort with a 2-2 performance
at the plate with four RBIs in an 11-3 decision vs. Eastern
Mennonite. Her two-run single was a key blow in a five-run
second inning and she came through with a two-run double the
following frame that helped Emory cross the plate six times. In the
final game of the weekend, she scored three runs, including the
eventual game winner, and went 1-for-2 at the plate in a 9-3
verdict over Greensboro.
After eight games, Kersthold is hitting a team-high .565
(10-for-23) and leads the squad in hits while standing third in
both runs scored (10) and RBIs (11).
