Jacqueline Spizizen

Jacqueline Spizizen

Freshman pitcher Jacqueline Spizizen accounted for all three of the Emory softball wins during the week.

Spizizen, who appeared in four games, did not allow a run over 19 innings of work, striking out a total of 18 batters while issuing just three walks and a total of 13 hits.

Against No. 19-ranked Berry, Spizizen tossed back-to-back complete-game shutouts, giving up just three hits and fanning six in a 2-0 triumph in the first game of a twinbill. In the finale, she surrendered nine hits and struck out four Vikings in raising her record to 3-1 on the year. Earlier in the week, she earned the win in the circle after tossing four scoreless innings of relief, striking out seven along the way, in a 1-0 decision over Averett.
