Sophomore Jessy McLean socked a pair of home runs and junior Jenna Wilson collected three hits in helping the Emory softball team to a second-game win and a split of a Saturday doubleheader at Brandeis University.  After seeing its 12-game win streak snapped when it dropped a 6-1 decision in the opener, the Eagles bounced back to claim a five-inning, 10-1 verdict in the final game of the weekend series.  Emory now stands 20-8 in overall action, 11-1 in the University Athletic Association, while Brandeis sits at 6-12 overall, 1-7 in the league.

McLean, who knocked in four runs in the finale, hit a solo shot in the top of the second that tied the score at 1-1. In the second frame, McLean drew a bases-loaded walk that scored Wilson with the first of four-run inning, which saw senior Janelle Turnquest drive in a pair with a two-run single and Lana Herrman single in McLean. The Eagles put the game out of reach in the fourth when they crossed the plate four times, with sophomore Sarah Katz coming through with a two-run single that scored Wilson and sophomore Sami Feller, and McLean belting a two-run homer, her third round tripper of the season.  Emory finished with 11 hits, the eighth time this year it registered double figures in that category.  Freshman pitcher Jacqueline Spizizen recorded her 13^th win in 17 decisions, tossing four innings in a starting capacity and allowing four hits while striking out five.

In the first game, the Eagles' Sami Feller and BU's Scottie Todd matched goose eggs through the first four innings before the Judges broke through with a pair of runs in their half of the fifth. BU capitalized on a pair of Emory fielding errors the following frame, scoring four unearned runs to seize control of the contest. The Eagles pushed home their lone score in the seventh when Lana Herrmann scored from third as a result of a throwing error.  Feller suffered the loss in the circle while Todd went the distance in raising her record to 3-5, allowing five hits, two of which came from Jenna Wilson, and striking out a pair.

Emory returns to action on Tuesday (Apr. 17) when it hosts LaGrange in a doubleheader starting at 2:30 pm.
