Jessy McLean Named To Academic All-District Softball Team

Emory University sophomore Jessy McLean (Matlacha, FL) has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The Academic All-District team presented by Google Cloud recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.

McLean, who just wrapped up her second campaign in the program this past weekend at the NCAA D-III Atlanta Regional, appeared in all 41 Emory games, 40 as a starter, and ranked second on the club and 10th in the University Athletic Association with a hitting mark of .351.  She topped the team in runs scored (21), and doubles (10) and was second in hits (40), home runs (3) and RBIs (20).  She produced a dozen multi-hit contests and tied for the team lead with five multi-RBI outings. The Eagles finished with a 29-12 overall record and captured the UAA title with a 15-1 ledger.

A Human Health major, McLean was nominated with a 3.95 grade-point average.

McLean will now be placed on the national ballot for the Google Cloud Academic All-America Team which will be announced on Tuesday, June 5th.

Voting for the Academic All-District team is conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Emory's representatives are District 5 selections from Division III institutions comprised from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
