Meghan Murphy

Meghan Murphy

Sophomore Meghan Murphy helped the softball team to a productive week of action with the Eagles going 4-0 at the Emory Invitational.

Murphy tied for the team lead in hitting with a .500 average, picking up five hits in 10 plate appearances. Included in her offensive totals were two runs scored, a team-high eight RBIs and a .700 slugging percentage.

In a five-inning, 10-1 decision over Rochester, Murphy went 3-for-3, crossed the plate twice and knocked in a pair of runs, including the deciding score. The following day, she keyed a 7-4 triumph over Emory and Henry with two safeties in five at-bats along with 5 RBIs. Murphy's single in the bottom of the first plated two Eagles as part of a four-run frame, and she later cleared the bases with a three-base hit in the bottom of the fourth that gave the Eagles a 7-1 edge.

So far this year, Murphy is second on the squad and 12th in the UAA in hitting with a .429 mark (12-of-28) and has registered a team-leading 10 RBIs.
