NCAA Softball Travels To Lynchburg For NCAA Super Regionals

Lynchburg Super Region Information

The No. 18-ranked Emory softball team continues its postseason run this weekend (Feb. 17-18) when it competes at the NCAA Lynchburg, Virginia Super Regional.  The best-of-three series will be held at Moon Field on the campus of the University of Lynchburg.  There will be one game played on Friday with first pitch slated at 2:00 pm.  Saturday will also see a 2:00 pm start time, and if a third game is necessary that will take place approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the second contest.

The Eagles of first-year Head Coach Adrianna Baggetta, are making the school's 16th trip to the NCAAs in the 21-year history of the program and check in with an overall record of 34-11. Emory advanced to the Super Regional after staving off three elimination games en route to winning the Demorest, Georgia Regional this past weekend. After winning their opening game, 7-3 vs. Emory and Henry, Emory came out on the short end of a 4-0 verdict to host Piedmont.  From there, the resilient Eagles battled to three consecutive wins, two of which were extra-inning affairs, including a 5-4 decision over Piedmont in the winner-take-all contest on Monday.

No. 17 Lynchburg travelled a similar path to Supers that Emory did, winning its initial game at the Virginia Beach Regional before losing to No. 1-ranked and host Virginia Wesleyan in its second outing. The Hornets regrouped and rattled off three consecutive wins including two over the top-ranked Marlins on the final day, 7-4 and 4-2. Lynchburg enters the upcoming weekend with a record of 36-13.
