Senior pitcher Madison Schaefer figured in both of the Emory softball team's wins over No. 10-ranked Berry College on May 14.
Over the two games Schaefer hurled a total of nine innings and registered an ERA of 1.56, allowing nine hits while striking out seven and issuing just one walk.
Schaefer registered her fifth complete game in six starts in the Eagles' 3-2 opening-game victory, giving up seven hits and fanning four. In the finale, she pocketed her first save of the campaign, tossing two scoreless frames that saw her strike out three. She came on in the top of the sixth and got out of a two-on, nobody-out jam, eventually striking the side.
On the season, Schaefer has amassed a 7-0 won-lost record and an ERA of 2.39 over 55 2/3 innings of work. She has struck out 47 batters and allowed just seven walks.
