The Emory University softball team returns to action on Saturday (Mar. 20) when it travels to Piedmont College for a doubleheader. Action at the Walker Athletic Complex begins at 3:00 pm.
Emory Head Coach Adrianna Baggetta and her squad stand 1-1 heading into the Piedmont contests after splitting a twin bill at Covenant College on Mar. 11. Junior catcher Krista Colussi was named University Athletic Association Hitter of the Week after hitting a club-best .857 over the two games, collecting six hits in seven plate appearances, and scoring a team-high tying four runs. Junior first baseman Mattie Ryan hit .777, topped all Eagles with seven safeties in nine at-bats, while junior outfielder Megan Weisenberg and sophomore Tyler Miller each hit .444 with four hits in nine plate appearances.
Under the guidance of 23rd-year Head Coach Terry Martin, the Lions stand 5-5 through 10 outings. Piedmont last played on March 4 when it captured two wins against Emmanuel College, 6-0 and 1-0.
