Shellie Kaniut

Senior Shellie Kaniut paced the team in scoring, assists and steals, while tying for the squad's rebounding lead, as the Emory women's basketball team split a pair of UAA contests.

The 5-foot-7 Kaniut averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 6.0 rebounds in outings vs. No. 9 Washington University and the University of Chicago.  In addition, She shot 53.3 percent (16 of 30) from the floor and topped the Emory scoring effort in both games.

She turned in a solid all-around performance against Wash U, producing 15 points on six-of-nine field goal shooting (1 of 2 from three-point range), and converting both of her free throw attempts. She also finished with a team-best marks with seven boards and six assists, with both of the totals representing season highs.   In a thrilling 74-71 come-from-behind win over Chicago, Kaniut led all players with 20 points, hitting a career-high 10 field goals in 21 attempts.  It was her 10th double-figure scoring effort of the season and third of 20 or more points. She also grabbed five rebounds.

On the year, Kaniut is second on the team and eighth among UAA players in scoring (13.7 ppg).
