Junior Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod scored a career-high 22 points in sparking the Emory women's basketball team to a Sunday afternoon win at Brandeis University.  The Eagles won their fourth straight contest and raised their overall record to 10-6 (4-1 University Athletic Association) following a 53-39 triumph over the Judges who slipped to 9-6 overall, 1-4 in the league.

Jackson-Sherrod connected on 11-of-16 field goal opportunities in registering her 13^th double-figure scoring performance of the season. Sophomore Allison Chernow was the squad's other double-digit scorer with a season-high 13 points, sinking three three-point field goals and all four of her free throw attempts.  Junior Ashley Oldshue contributed eight points and a game-high 14 rebounds, her seventh double-figure outing of the season, while sophomore Lindsey Tse dished out nine assists.

Brandeis whittled a 13-point Emory halftime lead down to five points with 1:13 remaining in the third stanza before a key three-pointer by Tse as time expired put the Eagles ahead by a 40-32 margin heading into the final 10 minutes of action.  The Judges' Lauren Rubinstein opened the last frame with a triple, cutting Emory's lead to 40-35, with 9:10 on the clock, but that would be Brandeis' last field goal of the contest, as the Eagles closed out the final 8:51 on a 13-4 scoring advantage, taking advantage of the Judges' misfiring on their last 14 tries from the floor.  A 6-0 spurt that saw Jackson-Sherrod sink back-to-back buckets, followed by a pair of makes at the stripe by Chernow, pushed Emory to a 46-35 edge with 1:36 left in the game. Emory scored five of their remaining seven points from the foul line while a bucket by Jackson-Sherrod with 10 ticks left closed out the game's scoring.

The Eagles outshot Brandeis from the floor, converting 21-of-53 of their attempts for a 39.6 percent effort while the Judges finished at 25.5 percent (14-55), an Emory opponent low on the season and the third time this year the Eagles had held the opposition to less than 30 percent.

After holding a 13-11 lead after the first stanza, the Eagles came through with a strong second quarter, outscoring the Judges by an 18-7 margin to claim a 31-18 heading into halftime.  Ahead by a 17-16 count, Emory closed out the final 5:36 of the quarter on a 14-2 tear, with Chernow knocking down a pair of three-point field goals and Jackson-Sherrod scoring six points.  Emory was successful on 48.3 percent (14-29) of its field goal attempts while the Judges sank just 26.9 percent (7-26).  Jackson-Sherrod registered 10 points to pace the Eagles' scoring effort, converting five-of-eight from the floor, while Chernow drained three from beyond the arc to account for her nine points.  Oldshue chipped in eight points on four-of-five field goal shooting while also grabbing nine boards.

Emory returns to action on Friday (Jan. 26) when it plays host to conference leader Chicago in a 6:00 pm tip.
