Emory Women's Basketball Drops Season Finale At Rochester

Junior Ashley Oldshue scored a game-high 21 points but it wasn't enough as the Emory women's basketball team dropped its season finale on Saturday at the University of Rochester.  The Eagles concluded the year with an overall slate of 13-12, 7-7 in the University Athletic Association, following a 66-52 setback at the hands of the No. 18-ranked Yellowjackets who improved to 21-4 overall, 11-3 in the league.

After battling to a 30-30-standoff after the first two quarters of action, Rochester outpointed the Eagles by a 19-7 margin in the third frame in gaining the upper hand heading into the final 10 minutes of play.  Emory trailed by a 38-34 margin with 6:11 left in the stanza before the Yellowjackets closed out the final 5:32 of the quarter on an 11-3 charge, taking advantage of the Eagles converting just one of their eight field goal attempts in that stretch.  In the final quarter, Rochester kept its double-digit advantage, leading by as many as 17 points, 59-42, with 6:04 remaining.

Oldshue ended the day hitting 10-of-21 from the floor in registering her sixth consecutive and 19th double-figure scoring effort of the year.  She scored 12 first-half points, six in opening frame in helping Eagles to a 20-15 lead and six in the second quarter.  Sophomore Erin Lindahl was second on the club with 10 points   Freshman Blair Ripley led the team's rebounding effort with eight rebounds, her 10th game of six or more caroms this year.

Emory enjoyed an edge in field goal shooting, converting 42.9 percent (21 of 49) from the floor compared to UR's 40.4 percent.  The Yellowjackets were more efficient from three-point range, knocking down 9 of 17 for 52.9 percent while Emory sank two treys in 11 tries.  Rochester hit four triples in the third quarter.

NOTES – Oldshue closed out the year with 365 total points, good for 14th place on the school's season ladder,  and her 54.3 percent performance (140-258) from the field slots her sixth on the Emory season list … Sophomore Lindsey Tse dished out six assists against the Yellowjackets and now has 263 in her career, good for sixth place all-time at Emory.
