Emory Women's Basketball Names Sammi Goldsmith Assistant Coach

Emory University head women's basketball coach Misha Jackson has announced the appointment of Sammi Goldsmith as assistant coach.  Goldsmith will begin her duties on May 29

Goldsmith joins the program after spending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Virginia Tech.  The Hokies won a total of 43 games during that stretch, with the 2017-18 squad recording the program's longest run ever in the postseason when it registered a runner-up finish in the WNIT, closing out the year with an overall record of 23-14.  In Goldsmith's initial campaign, VT posted 20 wins and won its opening three games in the WNIT.

"I am very excited to add Sammi to our staff," Jackson stated. "She has been a part of the growth of successful programs and is extremely dedicated to improving. I know that her past experiences and work ethic will allow her to have an immediate impact on our program both on and off the court. "

Goldsmith was a four-year starter on the Lynchburg College women's basketball team, serving as a team captain her junior and senior seasons. She helped the Hornets to their first-ever conference regular season title, conference tournament title, and NCAA berth during her senior campaign. In addition, she holds Lynchburg program records for most assists in a game (14), single season (187), and career (504). Goldsmith was voted the 2016 HERO Sports best guard in D3 Women's Basketball.

A 2016 Lynchburg College graduate, Goldsmith earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies.  Earlier this month, she obtained her Master of Arts in Education from Virginia Tech.
