Oldshue & Chernow Power Emory Women's Basketball Past Denison, 69-57

Senior Ashley Oldshue and junior Allison Chernow combined for 50 points, including 21 in the fourth quarter, as the Emory University Women's Basketball team defeated Denison University, 69-57, on the final day of the Gratz Park Private Wealth Classic at Transylvania University.

A day after dropping a career-high 39 points, Chernow continued her hot shooting, totaling 25 points on 5-of-12 shooting and 13-of-15 from the charity stripe. She added a game-high eight rebounds and four assists while Oldshue added six boards and four blocks to go along with her season-best output of 25 points on 8-of-13 from the floor and 9-of-11 from the line. Junior Erin Lindahl added eight points and four rebounds with sophomore Blair Ripley grabbing eight boards and swatting two shots in 23 minutes off the bench as Emory improved to 3-2 on the young season while Allison Schafer posted 13 as Denison fell to 2-3.

The teams played a fairly even contest through the first three periods and headed into the fourth with the score deadlocked at 46. In the final 10 minutes of play, Oldshue and Chernow shined for the Eagles, tallying 21 of the team's 23 points as Emory outscored the Big Red 23-11 in the final period en route to the 12-point victory.

With 2:46 remaining in regulation, the Eagles held a slim lead at 58-55 before ripping off a 9-0 run with all nine points coming from the Oldshue and Chernow pairing, to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles return to Atlanta Tuesday night to host the Sewanee Tigers at the Woodruff PE Center. Tip off from the WoodPEC is slated for 6:00 PM.
