Emory Women's Basketball Plays Host To Brandeis & NYU

GAME FACTS – The Emory women's basketball team is gearing up for its second straight home weekend of University Athletic Association play, starting with a Friday (Jan. 25) bout against Brandeis University followed by a Sunday contest against New York University.  The Woodruff PE Center will serve as the venue or the 60th match-up between the Eagles and Brandeis, and that game will start at 6:00 pm.  The meeting with the Violets of NYU will represent the 60th time the two schools have squared off, with that affair slated for a 2:00 pm start.

Both games will be streamed and can be seen by going to: https://emory.prestosports.com/sports/wbkb/live

THE COACHES – Head Coach Misha Jackson (Emory, '13) is in her second season at the helm of the Eagles' program.  Named Interim Head Coach in October of 2017, she guided the Eagles to a 13-12 slate last season, which included a 7-7 mark in University Athletic Association play, the highest win total in league play since 2013. She then had the Interim tag removed in March of this year.

She enters this weekend with a school and career record of 24-17.

Jackson joined the Eagles' staff as an assistant prior to the start of the 2013-14 season.  She played three seasons in an Eagle uniform (2010-11 through 2012-13), seeing action in a total of 78 games, 69 in a starting capacity. She closed out career ranked among the program's top-10 all-time performers in 11 categories.

Jackson is assisted by Sammi Goldsmith and Chuck Melito.

Carol Simon (Colby, '85) is in her 32nd year as the head coach at Brandeis.  During her stint with the Judges, she has compiled 440 victories and made four trips to the NCAA Tournament.

In her initial campaign patrolling the NYU sideline is Meg Barber (NYU, '02).  Appointed to her current post in June of 2018, Barber served as an assistant coach at Temple University from 2012 through 2016.

2018-19 RECORDS – Emory starts the weekend with an overall record of 11-5 (2-3 UAA).  The Eagles split a pair of home dates last weekend, dropping a 71-57 outcome to Case Western Reserve on Friday before bouncing back to snap a three-game losing streak when they came away with a 56-51 decision over Carnegie Mellon University.  Senior Ashley Oldshue and junior Allison Chernow tied for team scoring honors at 13.0 points apiece, with Oldshue ranking as Emory's top performer on the glass (8.5 rpg).

Emory is 4-2 at home and 7-3 in road/neutral contests.

Brandeis comes to town aiming to snap a three-game losing streak that has dropped its overall record to 6-9, 2-3 in league play.  Last weekend, the Judges hosted and dropped decisions to Chicago (71-62) and Washington University (101-67).  BU is 2-4 in away games and 4-5 at home.

NYU will take an overall slate of 10-6 (2-3 UAA) into a Friday night game at Rochester.  Last weekend, the Violets hosted and split a pair of games, losing to Wash U, 76-61, before regrouping to earn a 66-62 overtime verdict over Chicago.  NYU starts the weekend having split eight road contests while registering a 6-1 mark at home.
