Senior Ashley Oldshue led all players with a career-high 30 points, and the Emory women's basketball used a strong second-half effort in coming away with a Friday evening home win over Brandeis University.  The Eagles won their second straight game and boosted their overall record to 12-5, 3-3 in the University Athletic Association, following a 70-57 decision over the Judges who slipped to 6-10 overall, 2-4 in the league.

Oldshue, who scored 17 second-half points, closed out the night 11-of-18 from the floor and eight-of-nine from the stripe in notching her 16^th double-figure scoring effort of the year, and fourth of 20 or more points.  Oldshue also grabbed 15 rebounds, the high-water mark by an Eagle this year, en route to her fourth double-double of the year. 

Juniors Erin Lindahl and Allison Chernow rounded out the team's double-figure scorers with 15 and 13 points, respectively, with Lindahl adding seven rebounds and a career-high seven assists while Chernow contributed six rebounds and three assists.

Emory rolled to a 42-22 second-half scoring advantage that erased a seven-point halftime deficit.  The Eagles connected on 45.2 percent (14-of-31) of their field goals over the final two quarters and hit 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from beyond the arc.  Brandeis converted just 25.9 percent (7-of-27) from the floor over the last two quarters.

With Oldshue scoring 11 points, Emory outpointed the Judges by a 19-9 count in the third quarter to claim a 37-34 lead heading into the final stanza.  Down by a 46-40 margin with 5:40 left, Oldshue scored five points and Chernow added a triple during an 8-0 Emory that put it ahead by a 42-40 margin.  After a BU three-pointer, a pair of charity tosses by Lindahl, followed by a Chernow trey, pushed Emory to a 47-43 advantage. The Eagles kept the pressure on early in the fourth quarter with Lindahl scoring the last five points of a 7-0 spurt that gave the Eagles a 54-46 cushion with 7:19 remaining in the game. After a BU basket, another 7-0 Eagle blitz, highlighted by a Lindahl three-pointer, extended their lead to 13 points, 61-48, with 4:21 on the clock.  The Judges drew to within nine with 1:09 left, but two free throws apiece by Oldshue and Chernow, followed by a Lindahl layup sealed the win.

Emory returns to action on Sunday when it hosts New York University in a 2:00 pm start.
