Emory Women's Basketball Cruises Past Ferrum, 90-52

The Emory University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire Sunday afternoon, defeating Ferrum College 90-52 in the finale of the Emory Tip Off Classic at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

Senior Anna Arato, junior Claire Brock and sophomore Izzy Munson all registered career-highs in scoring as the Eagles poured in the most points in a single game during the Misha Jackson era and the highest total by an Emory squad since November 20, 2016 (114 vs. Trinity (D.C)).

Arato topped all Eagles with a 22 points and nine rebounds while knocking down eight of her 10 field goal attempts. Brock scored 15 of her 17 in the first half and finished 6-for-11 from the floor including a team-high three from long range. Munson went 7-from-10, draining a pair of triples and added a game-high five steals. Senior Tori Huggins added eight points and five rebounds with freshmen Morgan Laudick and Ekene Owunna each contributing seven points. 10 different players recorded an assist with senior Kennedy Cater leading the way with five.

The Eagles concluded the afternoon 56.7% (34-60), drilling a season-best 10 three pointers and held the Panthers to 31.4% (16-51). Emory had the edge on the glass, 42-21, and took advantage of 21 Ferrum turnovers, capitalizing with 23 points. For the Panthers, Jacy Marvin posted a game-high 23 points with Aisha Martin adding 10.

Emory raced out to 9-0 lead across the first four minutes of the opening quarter and never looked back, leading by 10 after the first quarter and by 12 at halftime. The Eagles shot over 50.0% in every quarter and shot 58.8% in the third and fourth periods, outscoring Ferrum 52-26 to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles will continue their current six-game home stand this Friday, November 26 with a matchup against LeTourneau University beginning at 6:00 PM.
