Rochester Spoils Emory Women's Basketball Senior Day

The Emory University women's basketball team had its senior day spoiled by the University of Rochester Saturday afternoon, falling to the Yellowjackets 70-55 at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

Prior to tip-off, the Eagles honored their three member senior class of Anna Arato, Kennedy Cater and Tori Huggins with a special ceremony on the floor.

Junior Claire Brock went for 20 points to lead all Emory scorers with Arato joining her in double figures with 12. Freshman Daniella Aronsky netted eight points in 22 minutes off the bench and Huggins scored five and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

For UR, Hannah Lindemuth and Julianna Okoniewski combined for 47 points with Lindemuth leading all players with 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting, finishing two points shy of her career high.

Following the defeat, the Eagles end the regular season with a 15-9 overall record and 8-6 in the UAA, good for a three-way tie for second place in the league standings. Rochester ups its record to 16-9 and 8-6 in the UAA.

The Yellowjackets shot 43.9% as a team from the floor compared to the 29.9% for the Eagles. Emory struggled from three-point range, knocking down just four of its 26 attempts from beyond the arc.

Rochester made seven of its first 15 shots to end the first quarter in front by four at 16-12. UR tacked onto its lead with a 16-13 edge in the second and led 32-25 at the halftime break.

Brock scored six of the team's 15 points in the third as Emory won the quarter 15-13 and trailed by five heading into the final 10 minutes. However, the visitors erupted for 25 points in the final quarter, headlined by 13 points by Lindemuth and nine points from Okoniewski to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles will await their postseason fate as they hope to snare an at-large bid when the bracket is announced 2:30 PM Monday afternoon on NCAA.com.
