The Emory University women's golf team gained valuable experience this weekend, as it competed in the Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama and finished in a tie for seventh out of 12 teams. The tournament, hosted by Huntingdon College at the 5,806-yard, par-72 Montgomery Country Club course, boasted a strong field that included four teams ranked inside the top-15 and 71 golfers.

The Eagles notched 321 total strokes through the first 18 holes on Saturday, which was good enough for seventh place at the end of the first round. On the second day of play, Emory held steady and maintained its pace by using 322 strokes to get through the final round. Centre College utilized a first-round 294 to build a sizeable cushion and shot +18 on day two to hold off runner-up Methodist College, which is ranked 11th in the DIII Women's Golf Coaches Association Poll. Rhodes College (#4) took third place after coming up just one stroke short of tying Methodist for second. Ten strokes back from third, Washington and Lee (#13) totaled 604 shots across 36 holes to end the weekend in fifth.

To win the individual competition, Centre's Bailey Plourde followed up an opening round scorecard of 69 with a 70 on Sunday. Plourde's teammate Rylee Suttor was the next-best performer at two-over-par. For the Eagles, Ksheera Jalakam paced the team with a two-day total of 151 strokes to finish in 11th-place. Her 28 pars lead the field. Alice Acosta and Jessie Ji lead Emory in birdies, with four each. Ji found herself in a tie for 17th-place at 157 (78-78), while Acosta took 35th-place with a showing of 164 (83-81).

Lillian Knetter and Amisha Singh both made their collegiate debuts this weekend. Knetter claimed 53rd-place by registering a final score of 173 and Singh opened her career with a 58th-place finish. Playing as an individual, meaning her strokes did not count towards the Emory total, Natalie Spitzer was the top-finishing unattached golfer. She tied for 29th-place by shooting a 161 in the tournament.

Next up for the Eagles is the Laurel Valley Invitational at the Laurel Valley Golf Club in Ligonier, PA on Oct. 7th-8th.
