The Emory women's golf team competed Tuesday at the Carnegie Mellon Tartan Invitational, which featured a loaded field, as eight of the eleven participating teams were ranked inside the top-25, according to the Women's Golf Coaches Association Poll. The young Eagles needed 344 strokes to navigate the course, a total that left them 56-over-par and in ninth-place out of 11 teams.

Inclement weather in the Lingonier, PA area forced tournament officials to cancel the first of two rounds on Monday afternoon, and the event held at the 5,807-yard, par-72 Laurel Valley Golf Club became an 18-hole competition that began this morning with a shotgun start. Host Carnegie Mellon University, ranked as the seventh-best DIII team in the nation, placed three golfers inside the top-10 to win the competition.

The Tartans took home first-place honors at 25-over par 313, bettering top-ranked New York University by four strokes, while Methodist University (#11) took the third spot at 33-over-par. NYU's Ashley Lung captured the individual tournament title, spreading 73 strokes across 18 holes to find herself just a single stroke over par. Jillian Drinkard came up just one stroke short in her pursuit of Lung by shooting a 74, but aided in pushing her Methodist team into third-place. Charlotte Simpson, of Carnegie Mellon, and Annie Mascot, from Washington University-St. Louis, both ended up locked in a tie for third at three-over-par.

For Emory, Jessie Ji registered a 10-over-par 82 to lead the Eagles and finished in a tie for 14^th-place in the 58-player field. Alice Acosta notched eight pars to pace her team in the category and concluded her day with 84 strokes, good for 22^nd-place. Ksheera Jalakam produced a score of 87  to earn 38th-place. Natalie Spitzer and Lillian Knetter also contributed to the Eagles' effort.

The Emory women's golf team will step to the tees again on Oct. 21-22, when they will play in Rome, GA at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate, which will be held at the Coosa Country Club.
