The Emory women's golf team completed the second round of the Linda Lowery Invitational in Lakeway, Texas Tuesday afternoon. The 36-hole tournament, which saw Ksheera Jalakam earn second place for the Eagles and was the first event of the spring for the squad, took place at the 6,814-yard, par-72 Yaupon Golf Course in the Hills of Lakeway Country Club.

The Eagles' trip to Texas was highlighted by Ksheera Jalakam's runner-up finish in the field of 27 participants. She entered the day with a one-stroke advantage over freshman Sarah Lucido, a representative from Southwestern University that used 80 strokes in the first round. Jalakam's day-two score of 13-over par, 85 allowed her to keep Lucido at bay, but Jalakam ended up in second-place behind Concordia University's Madyson Milliorn. The senior came up with a five-over par, 77 - the lowest round of the event - to make a jump in the standings that gave her medalist honors. Emory's Natalie Spitzer earned a top-10 finish, as she put together a pair of consistent rounds. Spitzer combined a round one 15-over par, 87 and a round two 14-over par, 86 to take ninth-place. Also competing for the Eagles were Lillian Knetter and Amisha Singh.

Milliorn's performance spurred her Concordia team to a round-two team score of 345 and helped her squad overtake Southwestern for the team title. Southwestern turned in a collective scorecard of 337 on Monday and led the team competition when the teams teed off this morning, but needed 353 strokes to get through the second round of the tournament, which left them with a final score of a 114-over par, 690. Concordia's official total added up to a 109-over par, 685. Mary Hardin-Baylor (125-over par, 710) finished in third place, while the young Emory team conculded with a 156-over par, 732 to take fourth-place.

The women's golf team will now prepare for the Savannah Invitational, which is scheduled for March 9th-10th and is slated to be staged at the Savanna Quarters Country Club. Shortly after that, the Eagle will compete in the UAA Championships on March 14th-15th in Palm Coast, FL.
