Sophomore Irene Wang helped the Emory Women's Golf team to a first-place finish out of 10 teams at the season-opening Lynn Schweizer Invitational in Granville, Ohio. It represented the first time in program history that the Eagles had captured the top spot in a tournament.
Playing on the 5,805-yard, par-72 Denison Golf Club, Wang tied classmate Ellen Dong for medalist honors in the 63-player field, shooting an even-par score of 144 (72-72). Wang hammered out a tournament-high 27 pars and registered three birdies and one eagle.
