Emory Women's Golf Opens Season with Tournament Win at Hamilton College Invitational

The Emory University women's golf team picked up where they left off from last season winning its first tournament of the season at the Hamilton College Invitational in New Hartford, NY. The two-day 36-hole tournament was played on the 5,750-yard, par-73 Yahnundasis golf course.

After winning their first national title in program history last season, the No. 1 ranked Eagles came out to prove that they were no fluke as they won the tournament with a two round score of 600 (302-298). Finishing in the silver medalist position was No. 12 Amherst (603 strokes) and rounding out the podium was host school Hamilton (616 strokes).

Reigning National Freshman of the Year Sharon Mun shot a one-under par 145 (73-72) which helped her earn her second tournament win of her collegiate career. Mun was phenomenal as she was the only player to hit par or better both days which further cemented her as one of the top golfers in Division III. Junior Irene Wang finished second amongst the Emory contingent, carding a 153 (78-75) to finish tied for ninth overall. Freshman Kiley Malmberg and sophomore Ellen Dong each tied for 12th notching a 154 scorecard. Junior Mariana Chong rounded out scoring for the Eagles registering a rock solid 155 (75-80) that saw her finish tied for 15th.

The Eagles return to action at the MCC Women's Intercollegiate in Montgomery, AL on September 26th and 27th.
