Liz Fernandes Named Head Coach for Emory Women's Golf

Emory University Associate Vice President of Campus Life and Clyde Partin Sr., Director of Athletics Keiko Price has announced the hiring of Liz Fernandes as the next head coach of the Emory Women's Golf program.

Fernandes joins the Eagles after a stint as assistant coach with the University of Louisville during the 2022-23 season.

"I am excited to announce Liz as our new head women's golf coach," said Price. "Accountability, teamwork, and excellence are values she stressed throughout the interview process, reaffirming her alignment with our department's values. Her commitment to helping student-athletes develop as golfers and as individuals demonstrates her impact as both a mentor and leader. I am confident her background as a teaching professional and collegiate coach will allow her to continue the momentum and success our women's golf program has moving forward."

A 2012 graduate of Northern Kentucky University, Fernandes has been working in the game of golf as an assistant golf professional, a college coach and a teaching professional since obtaining her degree. Prior to her time with the Cardinals, Fernandes spent time as a golf fitness specialist and teaching professional at notable courses around the country including The Quarry in La Quinta, California and Scarsdale Golf Club in Hartsdale, New York. In those roles, she was tasked with player development through private, group, clinic instruction and developed academy's, on course clinics, and mental side strategy. She also gained exposure in improving golf performance by working with body movement and developing individual programming for the body and strength.

"I'm thrilled to join the Emory family and be given the opportunity to head the Women's golf program," said Fernandes. "I want to thank Keiko for putting her faith in me to lead the program and Katie Futcher for making such a successful program as my predecessor. I look forward to the challenge of following in her footsteps, winning championships and upholding our high level of academic excellence."

In addition to her time at Louisville, Fernandes has coaching stops at Spalding University and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke where she focused on redesigning the practice plan, analyzing tournament statistics and administration, and improving recruitment.

Fernandes is Titleist Performance Institute Level 2 certified, Positive Coaching Alliance, US KIDS & Operation 36 certified, and TaylorMade club fitting, Callaway club fitting, Flightscope, Trackman, and V1 Pro certified.

She will officially begin her duties with the Eagles on June 15.
