The Emory University Women's Soccer team continued its winning ways on Tuesday night as the Eagles stifled the Sewanee University Tigers, 1-0, in a non-conference contest at the Woodruff PE Center. Emory has now won five straight games to improve to 7-3 overall while the Tigers drop to 5-6-1 on the season.

Sophomore Sophia Dillon scored the lone goal on the night, breaking a scoreless tie in the 69^th minute of action. Junior Anna Gurney provided a nice cross to the middle of the field where Dillon one-timed a shot past the Sewanee goalkeeper to give Emory a one-goal advantage they would not relinquish. The tally was Dillon's second of her sophomore campaign.

The Eagles were in control from the get-go, owning a 15-0 edge in shots through the first 45 minutes of play. Despite the heavy volume of opportunities, Emory could not convert as the teams headed to the break tied at 0-0. The Eagles had three solid scoring chances in the final five minutes of the half with sophomore Grace Edgarton spinning around a defender and just firing off a shot the sailed over the crossbar in the 41^st minute. One minute later, freshman Caroline Kolski tried to flick one home from right outside the goal but was denied by Sewanee's Samantha Bourgeois. Sophomore Jordan Doak had the best opportunity of the three as she ripped a shot inside the 18 in the 45^th minute but Bourgeois made a great two-handed stop to keep the game deadlocked.

The Eagles defense remained stingy as they have all year, holding the Tigers to just three shots total with all of them occurring in the second half. Emory outshot the Tigers on Tuesday 33-3 and has now outshot the opposition 239-51 in 10 games on the year. Tuesday also marked the ninth time the Eagles have held an opponent under 10 shots in a game.

Emory will put its five-game winning streak on the line Saturday afternoon as the Eagles travel to 15^th-ranked Washington University in a University Athletic Association contest. Kickoff is scheduled for noon eastern.
