Emory Women's Soccer Steamrolls Sewanee; Posts Second Straight 5-0 Decision

The Emory University Women's Soccer team posted its second consecutive 5-0 decision Wednesday night, steamrolling Sewanee University in a non-conference matchup in Sewanee, TN.

Sophomore Caroline Kolski led the offensive attack, registering a pair of goals while junior Abbe McCarter dished out a career-high three assists in the five-goal whitewashing.

Kolski scored both of her tallies in the opening half, the first of which coming in the eighth minute of the contest. McCarter hit Kolski in stride with a great through ball, allowing Kolski to slot her shot into the far corner of the net. Kolski doubled the Emory lead with her second tally in the 23rd minute, heading in a ball off a McCarter corner kick.

Freshman Anne Otterbein opened the scoring in the second half, making it 3-0 Eagles in the 53rd minute. Otterbein connected from six yards out, ricocheting in a shot off the crossbar following the feed from McCarter.

Fellow freshman Samantha Hilsee scored Emory's fourth goal in the 64th minute, putting in a shot from 12 yards out on a back-heel pass from Otterbein.

Junior Hope Morgan recorded the final blow, scoring her first goal as a member of the Blue and Gold, knocking in the loose ball from just off the goal line following a free kick.

Emory returns home Saturday night to face crosstown foe Agnes Scott College. Play from the Woodruff PE Center is set to get underway at 7:00 PM.
