No.-25 Women's Soccer Posts Third Straight Shutout; Tops Covenant 6-0

The No.-25 ranked Emory University women's soccer team won its fourth straight game and third by way of the shutout Tuesday night as the Eagles toppled Covenant College, 6-0, in Lookout Mountain, GA.

Five different Eagles scored a goal as the team notched a season-high output in the category. Freshman Sydney Rosenkrantz led all scorers with four points on the strength of her first two career goals.

Emory held Covenant to just three shots on the night while posting 28 shots as a team including 17 on goal to improve to 5-1 on the year. Senior Haley Pratt remained unbeaten at keeper, moving to 5-0 as she stopped both shots that came her way in easy fashion.

Sophomore Lindsey Breskow was the first Eagles to score on the evening, finding the back of the net at the 3:30 mark of the opening half. Following a shot by junior Samantha Hilsee that was blocked, Breskow was in perfect position to receive the rebound before scoring to the lower left post.

The score remained 1-0 until the 38th minute when freshman Natalie Klar recorded her team-leading fourth goal of the season. A shanked kick by the Covenant keeper when straight to Klar who took one dribble before launching a long-distance shot over the out-of-position keeper's head for the score.

The floodgates opened for the Eagles in the second half with the team registering four more markers to provide the 6-0 final margin.

Senior Shivani Beall found her classmate Paige Santee with a centering pass just outside the six where Santee one-timed it home for her first goal as a member of the Eagles in the 57th minute.

Emory tacked on two more less than a minute apart in the 76th and 77th minutes by Rosenkrantz and freshman Kylie Hall. First, senior Caroline Kolski dished a pass to Rosenkrantz who collected and spun around a defender before finishing it past the diving keeper. 53 seconds later, Hall fired one home from the top corner of the 18 off the give-and-go by sophomore Arielle Williamson.

Rosenkrantz closed out the scoring inside the final minute of play, using nifty footwork to get a shot around her defender before finishing to the far post.

Next up for the Eagles is a top-25 showdown Saturday afternoon at home with No.-14 ranked Centre College. Kick off from the WoodPEC is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
