Women's Soccer Pushes Win Streak to Five; Handles NYU, 3-0

A trio of second half goals coupled with more impressive play from the defensive unit paved the way for the Emory University women's soccer team's fifth consecutive victory Sunday afternoon as the Eagles handled New York University, 3-0, in Atlanta.

The Eagles limited the Violets to just two shots on target throughout the 90 minutes as Emory registered its fifth straight shutout, the largest such streak for the team since the 2014 season. The Eagles have outscored opposing teams 20-0 during their current shutout streak.

Junior Samantha Hilsee broke the ice in the 62nd minute as she notched her third goal of the campaign, converting a penalty kick opportunity after senior Shivani Beall was taken down from behind in the box.

Freshman Natalie Klar continued her stellar rookie season as she recorded her team-leading ninth score of the year in the 75th minute. Classmate Kylie Hall dished Klar the ball at the top of the 18 which allowed Klar to split two defenders before finishing to the top right corner.

Senior Paige Santee rounded out the afternoon's scoring as tallied her second marker. Hall sent a corner kick to the goal line where Santee was able to tap it in for the score.

The Eagles maintain possession throughout most of the match, finishing with a 17-6 edge in shots, 9-2 lead in shots on goal and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Emory closes out the regular season next Saturday, November 9th, as the University of Rochester visits the Peach State. Prior to the match at 11:00 AM, the Eagles will honor its senior class of Beall, Santee, Caroline Kolski, Haley Pratt and Morgan Brandewie.
