Women's Soccer Rallies to Defeat Rochester, 2-1, on Senior Day

The Emory University women's soccer team celebrated senior day on Saturday, rallying to defeat the University of Rochester, 2-1, at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA. Prior to the start of the match, the Eagles honored their five seniors of Shivani Beall, Morgan Brandewie, Caroline Kolski, Haley Pratt and Paige Santee with an on-field ceremony.

The win marks the Eagles' sixth straight victory as the team closes out the regular season with a 13-4 overall record and finishes second in the University Athletic Association with a 5-2 record. The second place finish is the team's highest finish in the conference since the 2013 season. Rochester closes out the regular season at 9-6-2 and 1-5-1 in the UAA.

After being held with a shot attempt through the first 45 minutes, the Yellowjackets cracked the scoring column first as Carolyn Richards lifted a shot from 35 yards out and perfectly placed it over the outstretched reach of Pratt to give UR the 1-0 advantage at the 45:53 mark. The goal was the first Emory had allowed since October 12th, snapping the team's scoreless streak of 506:54 minutes.

The score remained 1-0 until the Eagles struck for a pair two minutes apart in the 69th and 71st minutes. After a shot by Beall was blocked, Kolski followed up by hitting the crossbar on her rebound attempt. The second shot caromed back to freshman Aubrey Blanchard who deposited the ball into the back of the net for the equalizer. 2:12 minutes later, freshman Peyton Robertson earned the go-ahead goal as she headed in a corner kick from sophomore Arielle Williamson on the back post.

The Eagles controlled possession throughout the length of the contest, finishing with a 29-4 advantage in shots and a 7-1 lead in shots on goal.

Emory will now wait to hear its postseason fate as the NCAA Selection Show is set to air on Monday, November 11th at 1:00 PM on NCAA.com.
