Box Score

The fifth-ranked Emory women’s soccer team, playing its first home game of the season, boosted its record to 5-0-1 following a dominating 6-0 triumph over Maryville College.

The Eagles spread out the scoring honors with five different players finding the back of the Scots’ net.  Goals by Lauren Gorodetsy and Emily Feldman provided Emory with a 2-0 edge after the opening 45 minutes of action.  The Eagles opened the floodgates with four markers over a 24-minute stretch in the second half, the final two coming from Merrill Bachouros.  Emory held a 23-3 bulge in shot attempts and its six goals would represent a season high.

Erica Stein and Kaele Leonard combined for the squad’s fourth straight shutout with Stein earning the win after playing the first half, and Leonard’s effort enabling her to extend her scoreless streak to 645 minutes.  Kaele would eventually set the school record in that department later in the season at 776:30.

Emory women’s soccer would go on to complete a historic 2011 campaign, recording the first undefeated season in program history, winning the program’s sixth University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, and matching the team record for wins in a single season with a 17-1-2 record. The Eagles advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championships.
