Women's Soccer Unleashes Offensive Onslaught; Ties Program Record for Goals in Win at BSC

The Emory University women's soccer team was firing on all cylinders Sunday afternoon, winning its fourth consecutive game with a decisive 13-0 victory at Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL.

The 13 goals tied the program record for most scored in a single game, tying the previous mark set back on October 3, 1990 when that Eagles squad topped Agnes Scott College by a 13-0 score. The 13 tallies were also the most scored by a University Athletic Association team so far this season. In addition, the Eagles on Sunday had 11 assists, the seventh-most in a single game in team history and the 37 points was the third-highest output ever by an Emory squad.

Emory netted the 13 goals on 27 shots and limited the Panthers to just two attempts, one on target, in the game as the Eagles posted their fifth straight shutout. Junior Emma Miller and sophomore Maddy Schulte combined for the clean sheet with Miller making the lone save for Emory.

Four different Eagles had two goals on the afternoon- juniors Kylie HallNatalie Klar, sophomore Mia Han and freshman Natalie Price. All four players registered two goals and one assist for a team-leading five points. Sophomore Olivia Friedman had a strong offensive showing as well, scoring a goal and doling out a team-best three assists.

Also scoring in the contest were seniors Molly Miller, Samantha Hilsee, Lindsey Reina and sophomore Olivia McBerry. Reina and McBerry also picked up assists in the win.

Emory was in control from the opening kick with Miller beginning the scoring 1:46 minutes into the contest, one of five Eagle scores within the first 15 minutes. The lead ballooned to 8-0 just as the clock reached the 27th minute mark before finishing the opening half with 10 goals on the scoreboard. Price and Klar combined for the three second half tallies as the Eagles put the clamp down on the victory.

The Eagles, currently riding a seven-game unbeaten streak to start the season, will host Maryville (TN) Wednesday night in Atlanta before taking on the University of Lynchburg next Sunday, September 26th, at Richard Barry Park in Charlotte, NC.
