Emory Women's Soccer Blanks #15 Carnegie Mellon, 1-0, on Senior Day

The No. 25 ranked Emory University women's soccer team capped off an impressive conference weekend on Sunday, defeating No. 15 ranked Carnegie Mellon University, 1-0, on Senior Day in Atlanta, GA.

Prior to the start of the game, the Eagles honored their nine-member senior class of Lindsey Breskow, Lily Dresner, Lauren Mahoney, Molly Miller, Arielle Williamson, Lindsey Reina, Samantha Hilsee, Tierney Lanter and Emma Platt with a special on-field ceremony.

After the pre-game festivities, Emory scored a much-needed University Athletic Association victory with the win over the visiting Tartans, evening its conference record at 2-2 (10-3-1 overall) while Carnegie Mellon dropped to 9-3-1 and 2-1-1 in league play. The Eagles are a half-game out of second place in the UAA with three conference games remaining.

Junior Kylie Hall connected with the decisive goal in the 33rd minute to lead Emory to its second consecutive win over a top-25 program. Classmate Brooke Tylka sent a pass in from outside the left side of the 18, finding Hall who buried it past goalkeeper Carolyn Botz in the near post. It was Hall's fifth goal of the season.

The game was an evenly contested defensive affair with Carnegie Mellon holding a 10-7 advantage in shots and a 5-4 lead in shots on goal. Platt recorded five saves including two in the second half to win her seventh game between the posts this year.

Emory wraps up non-conference action Friday, October 22 as Roanoke College visits the Woodruff PE Center for the final home game of the regular season. Opening touch is set for 4:00 PM.
