Gold Defeats Blue, 165-122, in Emory Women's Swimming & DIving Intrasquad Meet

The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team held its annual Blue-Gold Intrasquad meet Friday afternoon with the Gold side coming out on top, 165-122.

The Gold team collected 12 victories compared to four for the Blue team in the meet with senior Cindy Cheng, junior Julia Durmer, and freshmen Lucy Daro and Rachel Song each winning a pair of individual events for the Gold team.

Cheng posted wins in the 200 and 500 Freestyles while Durmer touched first in the 1000 Freestyle and 200 Breaststroke. The newcomers Song claimed event wins in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Butterfly with Daro taking the 50 and 100 Freestyles.

Adding individual event wins for Gold were freshman Bethany Seagraves in the 200 Backstroke and sophomore Madeline Lutwyche in the 1-meter dive.

The Gold team also swept both relay events with senior Ming Ong, juniors Hannah Lally, Meg Taylor and sophomore Caroline Olson winning the 200 Medley and Daro, Cheng, senior Kike Afolabi-Brown and junior Fiona Muir closing out the meet with a win in the 400 Freestyle.

The Blue team saw Lally claim the 100 Breaststroke, senior Ming Ong win 200 IM, sophomore Maria Turcan touch first in the 200 Butterfly and freshman Katie Kushner earn the top spot in the 3-meter dive.

The Eagles return to the pool next Saturday, October 14th, with a dual meet against Division II's Queens University in Charlotte, NC.
