Katie Kushner Earns All-UAA Acclaim in Women's 1-Meter Dive to Open UAA Championships

The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team saw three divers in action on Wednesday as the Eagles kicked off the 31st annual University Athletic Association Championships at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center inside the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

Freshman Katie Kushner excelled during both the preliminary and final sessions of the 1-meter event, claiming the first All-UAA honor of the meet for the Eagles. Kushner turned in second place finishes in both the prelims and finals with scores of 448.45 and 450.20, respectively.

Sophomore Madeline Lutwyche just barely missed the cut for the finals by .35 points, placing ninth with 364.15 points. Senior Natalie Bauer rounded out the Eagles inside the top-11 as she posted a score of 359.85 to come in 11th.

After one day of competition, Emory sits in first place in the team standings with 64 points, just one ahead of second-place NYU. For complete results of Wednesday's diving event, please click here.

Day two of the UAA Championships begins at 10:00 AM tomorrow with preliminaries of the 200 Freestyle Relay, 500 Freestyle, 200 IM, 50 Freestyle and the men's 3-Meter Diving to follow at 12:45 PM.
