The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team earned another four event victories on Saturday to win the Emory Invitational. The Eagles finished the two-day meet with 647 points, outscoring Wingate (575), Carson-Newman (407.5) and Catawba (228.5).
Emory saw four individual event victories on the afternoon, raising its two-day total to eight event wins. Senior Julia Durmer and freshman Clio Hancock were two of the four Eagle winners on Saturday, doing so in NCAA B Cut fashion. Durmer took first in the 1650 Freestyle with a time of 17:29.80 while Hancock claimed the 400 IM at 4:30.05. Adding solo wins for the Eagles were junior Maria Kyle in the 100 Butterfly (58.31) and sophomore Lucy Daro in the 200 Freestyle (1:55.06).
Emory had strong finishes across the board over the nine events on day two, posting nine top-three finishes. Adding top-three efforts for the Eagles were senior Fiona Muir in both the 50 Free (2nd, 24.30) and 200 Free (2nd, 1:55.40), Durmer in the 400 IM (3rd, 4:33.24), senior Meg Taylor in the 50 Free (24.36), sophomore Bethany Seagraves in the 100 Backstroke (3rd, 59.92) and freshman Edie Bates in the 200 Breaststroke (2:26.24).
The Eagles also turned in top-three finishes from their A and B relay teams in the 200 Medley Relay with the A group of Bates, Taylor, sophomore Grace Snyder and sophomore Christy Taylor touching second at 1:47.98 with the B squad of Seagraves, Hancock, Muir and senior Hannah Lally placing third at 1:49.38.
The Eagles return to the pool at the end of the month when the team takes part in both the Denison and SCAD Invitationals from November 29th through December 1st.
