Women's Swimming and Diving Wins Four Events on Day Two of Denison Invite

The Emory University Women's Swimming and Diving team continued the Denison Invitational on Friday, winning four of the seven events contested and tallying a total of 13 NCAA B Cuts. Through two days of competition the Eagles occupy the third spot in the team standings with 1145.5 points trailing Denison (1,626 pts.) and Eastern Michigan (1305.5 pts.)

Three of the four event wins came during the individual events with senior Fiona Muir, sophomore Lucy Daro and freshman Clio Hancock notching wins for the Eagles. Muir claimed the 200 Freestyle crown with a finals time of 1:48.51 while Daro took the 100 Fly at 55.28 and Hancock in the 400 IM in a time of 4:17.06. Muir and Daro added a victory during the session, helping the Eagles win the 800 Freestyle Relay along with senior Meg Taylor and junior Maria Turcanu, touching with a time of 7:24.92.

To go along with the four event wins, Emory saw three third-place efforts with junior Maria Kyle taking bronze in the 100 Fly at 55.98 and M. Taylor in the 200 Freestyle at 1:51.85. Both swimmers were third place finishers in the 200 Medley Relay with senior Ashley Daniels and sophomore Bethany Seagraves, recording a time of 1:42.56.

The Eagles saw four swimmers record NCAA B Cuts in the 100 Breaststroke, the most in any event of the night, with Daniels leading the way in fifth place with a time of 1:02.91. Freshman Edie Bates was sixth at 1:03.50 followed by sophomore Lara Gemar in eighth (1:04.48) and senior Hannah Lally in ninth (1:04.62).

Freshman Gaige Elms registered a pair of NCAA B Cuts in the 100 Back (5th-56.70) and 400 IM (7th-4:31.62) while Turcanu finished sixth in the 400 IM with a qualifying time of 4:26.91 to round out the Emory NCAA B Cuts on Friday.

The Denison Invitational concludes Saturday with the 200 Backstroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 Breaststroke 200 Butterfly, 1650 Freestyle, women's 3-meter diving and the 400 Freestyle Relay.
