Emory University senior Zahra Dawson won the second singles match during the Eagles’ 9-0 win over Georgia Perimeter College on ‘Senior Day’ to move into second-place in school history for career singles victories. Dawson defeated Sadietou Mayou in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, to improve to 83-36 in singles action for her career, passing former Eagle Jill Tobin (1988-92) for the second-most singles victories in school history. She also teamed with Gabrielle Clark to win the first doubles match 8-2, as Dawson moved just seven doubles victories shy of the all-time Emory record. Now 13-7 in singles play and 21-6 in doubles action, Dawson has helped lead the second-ranked Eagles to a 13-4 record this season.
