Emory University sophomore Melissa Goodman was undefeated in a pair of singles matches and went 1-1 in doubles contests for the top-ranked Eagles last week. On Thursday, Goodman helped lead the Eagles to an 8-1 win over Georgia Gwinnett College, the reigning NAIA Champions and top-ranked team, with a 6-4, 6-0 win at fourth singles and an 8-2 win with Beatrice Rosen at second doubles. On Saturday, in a 5-2 Emory loss to Division I Charleston Southern University, she picked up one of the Eagles’ two wins with a victory at fourth singles, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, while falling 8-5 with Rosen in the second doubles match. Goodman is now 3-3 this season in singles matches and 8-3 in doubles action, as the Eagles have opened the campaign with a 5-2 overall record.
