She finished her rookie campaign as the No. 2 ranked singles player in Division III and part of the No. 3 ranked doubles team in the country with Bridget Harding. Gonzalez-Rico was just the second freshman ever to win 30 or more singles matches in a season, going 31-7 (second most in a single season in team history), and in doubles, she and Harding set a new program single season record with 34 doubles victories. She added UAA and ITA Atlantic South Rookie of the Year honors and was named the UAA Tournament’s Most Valuable Player, leading the Eagles to their sixth straight conference title. In the fall, she made an immediate impact as a member of the Eagles, claiming both the ITA South Regional singles and doubles crowns and advanced to the ITA Division III Championship match in both disciplines. In the spring, Gonzalez-Rico and Harding advanced to the semifinals of the NCAA DIII Individual Championships before falling to Wesleyan’s Eudice Chong and Victoria Yu, ending the spring season with a 22-3 record which included a string of 19 straight wins.
