#1 Women's Tennis Down #6 Tufts, 6-3, for Fourth Straight Win

The top-ranked Emory University Women's Tennis team collected its fourth consecutive win and third straight over an opponent ranked inside the top-15 as the Eagles handed No.-6 ranked Tufts University a 6-3 loss Sunday morning in Waterville, Maine.

Emory took two of the three doubles matches on the day to begin the match. Senior Bridget Harding and freshman Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico pushed their spring unbeaten streak to 14 straight matches as the duo earned the 8-6 win at first doubles. On court two, senior Anna Fuhr and freshman Stephanie Taylor carded the 8-3 victory.

In singles play, the Eagles claimed four of the six matches including three in straight sets. Gonzalez-Rico and classmate Defne Olcay each posted matching 6-3, 6-2 wins at first and fifth singles while Taylor won comfortably at sixth singles, 6-1, 6-0. Harding registered the fourth Emory win, earning the 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 conquest on court two to round out the Emory winners in the match.

The Eagles now set their sights on the University Athletic Association Championships which will be played in Altamonte Springs, Florida from April 27-29.
