Alexa Goetz Tabbed as ITA Atlantic South Rookie of the Year

Emory University women's tennis freshman Alexa Goetz was tabbed as the ITA Atlantic South Regional Rookie of the Year as announced by the organization Wednesday morning.

The honor is the latest postseason award for Goetz as she put forth an impressive rookie campaign for the No. 3-ranked Eagles. Goetz finished as the team leader with 15 singles victories (15-5 overall) and 16 doubles wins, posting a 16-6 overall record including a 9-0 record as part of Emory's dominating third doubles team with classmate Katelyn Thomas.

Earlier this postseason, Goetz was one of five Eagles to be named to the ITA Division III All-America team, earning honors in both singles and doubles, and was tabbed to the All-University Athletic Association Team for her singles and doubles performance.

During the fall, Goetz was crowned the ITA South regional singles crown and reached the quarterfinals of the ITA Cup singles draw. In doubles, she teamed with sophomore Christina Watson to win the regional doubles title and were one of 16 doubles teams to compete at the ITA Cup in Rome, GA.

Goetz ended the year ranked among the nation's best in singles, No.-21 in Division III and No.-5 in the Atlantic South and was No.-14 in the final regional doubles rankings with Thomas.
