Emory Women's Tennis Blanks Piedmont at Home

The Emory University women's tennis program improved to 3-1 on the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Piedmont College in quick fashion, 9-0, at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta.

The match began indoors as the Eagles swept all three doubles matches. Emory posted 8-0 victories by Christina Watson and Stephanie Taylor at first doubles and by Ana Cristina Perez and Katelyn Thomas on the second line. At third doubles, Defne Olcay and Sam Falcon took care of their counterparts by an 8-5 margin.

The match moved outside for singles play where the Eagles dispatched the Lions across all six positions in straight sets. Both Watson at first singles and Perez at fifth singles recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories while Jessica Fatemi dropped just one game total in her 6-0, 6-1 on the fourth court. At second singles, Thomas was a 6-1, 6-2 winner while Olcay registered a 6-3, 6-2 triumph on the No. 3 line. Lauren Yoon rounded out the day's winners as she turned in a 6-2, 6-0 decision at sixth singles.

The Eagles will return to action this Friday, April 16th with road match at Georgia Gwinnett College beginning at 2:30 PM.
